A Season of Togetherness: Family Photos at the Tree Farm

October 10, 2023 Estimated reading time: 3 min

This time of year is all about family. From cozy gatherings to sharing meals and stories, the holidays are the ultimate season of togetherness. One of my favorite parts about creating holiday memories is getting a chance to step back and enjoy our family traditions, like visiting the tree farm.

I’ll be honest with you: Christmas tree farm photography is one of my favorite parts about the holiday. I love watching kids explore the rows and rows of trees, wide-eyed with wonder; I love watching parents and kids dream about picking their perfect tree. There’s something so simultaneously extraordinary and special about traditions like these. Tree farm photography can yield heartwarming images that will take up special spots on your walls for years to come.

Whether you’re looking to start a tradition or continue yours, Christmas tree farm photography is the perfect opportunity to create holiday memories AND receive beautiful, intentional photos. Let’s explore the many ways you and your family can harness this special time of year!

The Perfect Setting

Picture this: your family, surrounded by the natural beauty of a tree farm, with the scent of pine in the air, and the soft, golden glow of the setting sun filtering through the branches. Is there anything more magical?

When you step into a tree farm, you're instantly transported to a serene holiday oasis. The rows upon rows of perfectly aligned trees create an enchanting symmetry, making it easy to frame your family in a picturesque setting. Whether you're going for a classic look or a more rustic feel, the tree farm provides the versatility to suit your vision.

It's not just about posing and saying "cheese." The tree farm offers a wonderful opportunity for families to interact naturally. Kids can explore the rows of trees, pick pinecones, or even have a playful snowball fight in the winter months. Alternatively, you can cozy up with a plaid blanket and sip hot cocoa.

These warm, intimate moments translate beautifully into your family photos, making them feel like snapshots of your life – rather than staged portraits.

Activities for the Whole Family

If you're planning your family photo session during the holiday season, why not combine it with a special setting: the Christmas tree farm? You and your family can daydream about your favorite tree. There are so many unique and fun ways to spend quality time together during the holiday season. Let’s explore…

1. Exploring the Christmas tree farm – before the crowds!

Imagine your family wandering through row after row of Christmas trees, daydreaming about picking out the perfect holiday centerpiece together. Right before the season begins, Andre Toro Photography rents out the ENTIRE  Mistletoe Christmas Tree Farm in Stow, MA for photoshoots! This means no crowds, stunning trees in full bloom, and plenty of space for your family to explore the rows and rows of trees.

Believe it or not, these beautiful trees make a stunning backdrop for your family portraits. We can capture candid moments of your little ones marveling at the red barn or running around the pond, or your teenagers giving a thumbs-up to the perfect pine or even just simple, timeless fall portraits. Christmas tree farm photography makes for timeless portraits in a special setting that will always remind you of the holiday season.

Once the tree farm opens for the season, you and your family can come back and pick out that one tree that stole your heart!

2. Snowball fights

Visiting during the winter months? Boston can sometimes see early snowfall – which makes for a dreamy backdrop, especially at the tree farm. The laughter and joy will be palpable and captured forever in your photos.

3. Pet portraits with furry friends

Don’t leave your furry friends behind! They’re as much a part of the family as anyone else. Dogs chasing leaves, cats perched on branches, or even rabbits hopping through the fields - these furry family members can add an extra layer of surprise and fun to your session.

4. Hide and seek

For families with younger children, a game of hide and seek can be an absolute blast. Whether they're peeking out from behind branches or giggling around the pines orthe fallen leaves, these moments of pure childhood joy are perfect for capturing the essence of your family's spirit and bond. This is even more special if you opt for some fall colors, too!

Make It A Tradition

One of the most beautiful aspects of doing Christmas tree farm photography is watching your family grow and evolve through the years. From those tiny feet crunching leaves to seeing your children towering over you, these family photos mark the evolution and growth of your special unit. It's like flipping through the pages of your personal photo album, but with fresh, new chapters added each year. These are my favorite holiday memories.

We can all get a little nostalgic during the holiday season (guilty as charged!!), but what better way to embrace it than with a yearly visit to the tree farm? Every time you return to the tree farm, you'll be reminded of holiday memories from years past.

Most importantly, making family photos at the tree farm a tradition is a way to celebrate your family's togetherness. In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it's easy to forget how truly remarkable and unique your family is. These annual sessions serve as a reminder of the love, laughter, and bonds that make your family extraordinary, whether you’re booking fall sessions or winter sessions.

It’s about so much more than just capturing smiles; it's a bonding experience. It's a chance to pause, connect, and celebrate your family.

It's time to book your session! Don't let those special moments slip away. Let's make this year's family photo session a joyful celebration of your family's love, laughter, and togetherness.
